"Stick close," Zed mutters, as he leads the way down the hallway.

"No damn cover here at all," he continues. "Asses hanging right out in the open."

You better believe he'll remember this moment at renovation time.

"Don't think we've got time for that," Bob snaps over the comm. "The armory's trashed, I think the Bunny's dead, and--who the frag is 'Marvin'?!"

Oracle grimaces, but still manages to keep it out of her voice, "Confirming that the Bunny is no longer on my scope." She makes a mental note that he's no longer an asset. "I currently project 'Marvin' to be on a least-time course for the command bunker. Bob, can you provide visual confirmation?"

She's only half paying attention as she gets the defense grid up and running. She's hoping that this will do more than just make Marvin angry.

"Confirmation of what?? It's not heading for the front door, I can tell you that much..."

And thank the User for that. Bob didn't want to think about the logistics of that thing getting into Milliways.

Well, Bob clearly can't provide confirmation that Marvin is headed anywhere, only where he is not headed. So of course what Oracle must have meant all along was, "Can you provide visual confirmation of the Bunny's elimination?"

While she waits for his answer she opens a channel to everyone. "All units be advised, internal security grid is now active. I've designated the armory, the hangar, and the command bunker as safe zones. Advise me if you plan to leave them."

Bob peers as far into the armory as he can without actually crossing the Front Door. "I don't see a body, but there's a lot of fur scattered around, and he was right in the middle of a big explosion. That's all I know."

Oracle doesn't sigh. There's not even a hint of a sigh in her voice! (Years of practice.) "Acknowledged, no sign of the Bunny since the massive explosion. I'm showing no current threats heading toward the front door. Keep me informed on your situation."
